Over the past 12 years, we’ve supported Top Church Training (TCT) with funding applications to expand their work throughout the Dudley borough to help even more vulnerable people.
Once in a position to consider sustainability, TCT had a ‘dream’ to own a café to earn additional income for the charity and to provide people who were unemployed and struggling with their mental health with employment and volunteering opportunities. Their aim was to help people to develop skills, increase confidence, self-esteem and social skills.
After discussing options with our funding officer, the group found a suitable local premise for a café in Brierley Hill. We supported TCT with two successful funding applications to Clothworkers Foundation and Roger & Douglas Turner Charitable Trust totalling £11,000. These grants allowed for essential work to be carried out on the premises so that the café could open in early 2020. ‘Harrys’ café is now the place where TCT’s dream is being fulfilled.
Of the 20 funding applications we have supported TCT with over the years, 11 have been successful totalling £584,200.
Over the years, TCT has learnt from our advice and guidance and submitted 7 applications totalling £12,700 without our funding application support.
“We are honoured to have the continued support from Martin Jones, Dudley CVS
Funding Officer. He understands and fully supports the aims and objectives of our Charity and will go above and beyond to identify the right grantmakers to enhance our service delivery.
He has supported me to achieve the dream, to move our café project onto the High Street. Supporting myself and the Treasurer with applications for capital funding and coaching us through the maze of detail required.”
